A few options are available for persisting Java objects in their most natural form (as Java objects). Products range from simple object serialization/persistence frameworks to full blown database engines. The presentation will cover two different approaches to object persistence.

Prevayler


A simple transactional object serialization engine. The entire data set resides in memory. All transactions are serialized as journal files that are replayed to recreate the data set at restart. Implementations available for other technologies such as PHP, Ruby, .NET

ObjectDB


A JDO 2.1 compliant Java object database engine. Provides excellent performance and natural object modeling capabilities. Can be run as embedded only or in client-server mode.
